Ayr Civic Theatre

This view of the theatre building, taken from the pavement beside the former Dam Park Hall, shows clearly the additions to the front of the original church building.

The white harled section of the building, patched in places, comprises a staircase to the balcony level and a small projection room.  At ground floor level there is a small crush hall, box office and toilet facilities.

The main entrance to the theatre faces onto a busy roundabout on Ayr's inner ring road.

The lack of recent maintenance is clearly visible around the roof vents.

The building was demolished in May 2010.  For images of the demolition and the cleared site, please follow this LINK

Ayr Civic Theatre

View of the theatre from Dam Park.  The staircase to the balcony and the toilet block are clearly visible at the left.  On the extreme right, at right angles to the auditorium is the former church hall.  This space was used as a tearoom, proving interval refreshments, and at the further end a scenery and properties store room.  Sets for productions were prepared and painted in this area.

Originally, access to the tearoom involved leaving the auditorium by the main entrance or through the emergency exit on the southern side of the auditorium.  IN the late 1980's an enclosed walkway base built to link the auditorium and the tearoom.
