Ayr Intimate Opera Ayr Intimate Opera evolved from the Arran Choir under the musical direction of Raymond Bramwell. Producer Bill Grierson was already a well established opera producer, working with a number of companies in the west of Scotland.
The company, with the support of Donny McIntyre, restored the stage at Ayr Pavilion and mounted a series of operas in the building between 1973 and 1983. The company's productions included:
The Magic Flute, Faust and Rape of Lucretia were presented in the Craigie College Lecture Theatre. Sandrina, Rape of Lucretia and Hansel and Gretel were presented in collaboration with Ayr Arts Guild as part of the Ayr Concert Series. |
