Recurring themes within my work have revolved around the play of light on surfaces, on reflections, on afterimages and both the definition of and dematerialization of panes by the projection of light from exterior and interior spaces. I am interested in the dynamics of layered planes and grids as definitions of place space voids and volumes.

Although formerly a painter and sculptor my immediate work has been led by processes inherent in lens based imagery and printmaking.

In much of my work I use combinations of media to achieve different levels: silkscreen on monoprint, carborundum and etching combinations, silkscreen with lino and watercolour, cyanotype and digital image photography; building up fractal like layers of colour to convey the fleeting alternations of colour we perceive in afterimages.

Recent work with Kiln-fired glass has both reinforced and added to the area in which I have been working; the medium of fused glass is like drawing with light itself, and gives a structural interface for exploration of planes of layered landforms and sea .
