The Compass Club performed at the Civic Theatre throughout from the 1960's until shortly before the theatre closed.  The intimacy of the theatre and the dimensions of the stage were ideally suited to the Compass "style".

In their early days in the theatre the company used the traditional box set.  By the mid 1970's however, the group was sharing a large stock of scenery with Ayr Intimate Opera and the stage sets became more diverse.  The two examples of company productions in these pages show contrasting designs of abstract and representational settings.  Both settings use lighting as a crucial aspect of the presentation.
