Merlin, from Lockerbie, Scotland has had a varied professional career since graduating in 1980 with a B.A. Hons (1st Class) in Theatre Design. This includes a diversity of theatrical work ranging from Highlands & Islands Drama Advisor, Senior Scenic Artist/Prop-maker at the Royal Opera House, through to Freelance props/scenery Designer, Maker, Consultant and Supervisor with West End Musicals, Theatre, Pantos, T.V. Film, Advertising and Corporate productions.

Illustrations for Children’s books, Christmas cards, Web art & Corporate cartoons also make up a large proportion of Merlin’s graphic commissions.

Merlin’s many public displays in Scotland, include an exhibition at the Edinburgh Festival under the auspices of Amnesty International following exhibitions and a lecture tour around Brazil. Subsequent travels through South East Asia and Ireland, provided a source of works for further exhibitions in London while more playful portraits and character studies have been displayed in the Traverse Theatre, complementing the International Children's Festival, and at the Royal Lyceum Theatre Edinburgh, to enhance their Christmas performances.

Merlin has launched a new project (Art Cart) to assist schools in pursuing the Curriculum for Excellence.  Full details are available on her website.
