Pyjama Drama - Drama and Creative Play classes for 2-5 year olds

Having loved Drama since school and was heavily involved in Musical and Theatre productions in school and in Local Amateur Dramatics it became natural for me to continue my Studies in this field. I studied my HNC in Acting and Performance, achieving merit grades for my performances. My HNC gave me experience of Theatre as well as Drama in the Community where I toured Primary schools with Forum Theatre about Bullying. This was when I first realised how transferable Drama can be.

I achieved a BA Honors Degree in Communication Arts: Studies in Media and Performance: specialising in Drama. In my final year I developed my interest for Drama in the Community by studying the Drama in the community (How different stimuli can create Drama) and Theatre in the Community (Researching and Performing a devised piece of Theatre about the Preconceptions of age)

In my professional career in Community Education I have used my Drama experience to create numerous pieces of work with young people and Peer Education groups. Now working in the Voluntary Sector I use Puppets and Drama to work with Primary age children to help with confidence and behaviour.
Since having my own family I am experience the creative development of my children. Pyjama Drama classes are packed full of creative and dramatic play to help develop key social skills such as co-operation, concentration and confidence whilst igniting the imagination. It is amazing how creative young children are. Play and imagination comes so natural and Pyjama Drama helps them to explore new worlds and learn in a creative way. This is what drew me to becoming the Manager for East Ayrshire.
Pyjama Drama classes are not only fun but has been developed to support the National Curriculum and Birth to Three Matter Framework, offering children between the ages of 2 and 5 with opportunities to engage in creative and dramatic play through which to learn, develop and grow!
Pyjama Drama is new to Scotland and is aiming to offer as many children as possible the opportunity to join in our creative fun! There is such fantastic practice in the Arts in Scotland and I am so proud to be able to encourage this with younger children. I wish there had been Pyjama Drama classes when I was 2 so I could meet Dragons and search for Rainbows!
