Fiona Scott (Soprano) was born in Preston, Lancashire. She has just
completed the Opera School of the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and
Drama, studying with Pat Hay. Previously Fiona attended the Royal Northern
College of Music.
Fiona was the recipient of the Dame Eva Turner Award for Dramatic Sopranos
(RNCM) and the Wagner Society of Scotland Bayreuth Bursary for 2008.
She recently reached the Semi Finals of the 6th International Richard
Wagner's Neue Stimmen (Bayreuth & Karlsruhe). Competition prizes
include Governor's Recital Prize for Singing (RSAMD) and the Clare Croiza
French Song Prize (RNCM).
Operatic roles include Ariadne (Ariadne auf Naxos), Fata Morgana (L'Amour
des trois Oranges), Madame Lidoine (Les Dialogues des Carmelites), Lady
Billows (Albert Herring), Freia (Das Rheingold), Donna Anna, understudy
(Don Giovanni), Countess (The Marriage of Figaro), Lady Macbeth (The
Okavango Macbeth “a formidable Lady Macbeth”, The Scotsman,
“opportunity for Fiona Scott, as Lady Macbeth, to show off a powerful
voice”, The Economist).
Opera excerpts include Sieglinde (Die Walküre), 3rd Norn (Götterdämmerung),
Leonore (Fidelio), Female Chorus (The Rape of Lucretia, Britten), Vitellia
(La Clemenza di Tito, Mozart), Elettra (Idomeneo, Mozart).
Fiona is equally at home on the Concert Platform, giving recitals and
Opera Galas around the UK and abroad. Her Bridgewater Hall debut saw
Fiona premiere Tighten up, for Soprano and Symphony Orchestra, by Larry
Gove. Other concert repertoire includes Soprano Soloist Symphony No
9 (Beethoven), Stabat Mater & Petite Messe Solennelle (Rossini),
Messiah (Handel), Gloria (Vivaldi), Requiem (Mozart), Lobgesang (Mendelssohn),
Wesendonck Lieder (Wagner), Seven Early Songs (Berg) and Poemes pour Mi (Messiaen).
