Spaces Opera Masterclass ~ Elin Pritchard
Studying under the direction of Pat Hay and Judith Howarth
Elin is currently on the Opera Course at the Royal Scottish Academy of
music and Drama. She completed the Post-Graduate Diploma course at the
Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in July 2009 and also gained her
Bachelor of Music with Honours in 2007 under the direction of Suzanne
Murphy.
Elin has performed the Title Role in Puccini’s Suor Angelica in
RWCMD’s Summer Opera 2009 and Fiordiligi from Mozart's Cosi Fan Tutte in
Concert. She covered the role of Anne Trulove from Stravinsky’s opera
The Rake’s Progress for British Youth Opera’s Summer Season 2009. She
has performed in scenes from Bellini’s I Capuleti e i Montecchi as
Giulietta and as
Rusalka from Dvořák’s opera Rusalka for RSAMD, Mozart’s Die Entfuhrung
aus dem Serail as Konstanze and Tchaikovsky's Queen of Spades as
Liza for RWCMD. Other roles include Princess Laoula from L'Etoile by
Chabrier RWCMD Summer Opera 2008, Agatha, Die Freischutz by
Weber RWCMD Opera Scenes 2008. In June 2010 Elin will perform the role
of Countess Almaviva for RSAMD and will cover Mimi, La Boheme,
Puccinifor British Youth Opera in September 2010.
Solo Oratorio experience includes Faure's Requiem, Schubert's Mass
in G, Vivaldi's Gloria and Rutter's Magnificat, Bruckner Mass
in F Minor, Dvorak Te Deum and Verdi’s Requiem. Elin
has also performed as a soloist for RWCMD Historical Department and
String Ensemble, Pontypridd Choral Society, Tabernacle Choral society,
Bridgend, and Burry Port Town Band, City of Glasgow Chorus, Thomas
Coats Memorial Choral Society and Saint Andrews Chorus.
In 2009 Elin was a finalist in the Towyn Roberts scholarship at the National
Eisteddfod and has won the prestigious Dame Shirley Bassey Scholarship
in 2007 and 2008. She was also awarded the Welsh Livery Guild prize and
the Elias Singing Prize for Soprano. Elin has also been accepted as an
artist on Live Music Now.
