Spaces Opera Masterclass ~ Bjartmar Sigurdsson
Bjartmar was born in Reykjavík, Iceland on the 14th September
1975
Although Bjartmar showed an interest and talent in music at an early
age, it was not until the age of 28 that he realized the potential to
become a classical singer and he began to study privately with singing
teachers in Iceland and in the UK.
After finishing high school Bjartmar has worked in various jobs, mostly
in the area of adolescent in rehabilitation. His last employment was
for the Child Protection agency in Reykjavík.
Concert platform work includes Tenor soloist in Mozart Requiem and Opera
galas in Iceland, Denmark, Italy and United kingdom
Bjartmar has participated in masterclasses with Ian Storey, Philip Langridge,
Julian Rodescu, Laura Brooks.

In 2007 Bjartmar moved to Glasgow where he is a student at the Royal
Scottish Academy of Music and Drama graduating with a Postgraduate Diploma
in Opera Studies. He is now in his second year of a two year Masters
course in Opera at the Alexander Gibson Opera School of the RSAMD studying
with Stephen Robertson. Since working with his new teacher he has increased
his repertoire to include heavier roles from operas.
In 2009 Bjartmar was granted the generous Wagner scholarship from the
Wagner society in Edinburgh,Scotland
